🏘️ On Your Front Porch
Bentonville has unveiled a long-term roadmap for becoming one of America's premier destinations.
The plan builds amenities residents will use every day.
Why it matters: More entertainment, shopping, nightlife, and convention space could all be part of the city's future.
☀️Making It More Than a Day Trip
For years, Bentonville has been known for mountain biking, Crystal Bridges, and Walmart. The new Destination Master Plan asks a bigger question:
How do you turn Bentonville into a place people stay for several days instead of just passing through?
The nearly 100-page plan outlines strategies to grow tourism over the next decade while balancing quality of life for residents.
The goal is straightforward: create experiences that encourage longer stay and more local spending.

🚇 Mind the Gaps!
What’s missing in Bentonville?
The report suggests Bentonville has become a world-class destination for outdoor recreation and the arts, but several gaps remain.
Among the recommendations:
More shopping districts and locally owned retail
Expanded nightlife and evening entertainment
A larger convention and meeting facilityf
More family attractions and year-round programming
Additional hotels across multiple price points
Better transportation and easier ways to get around without a car
The idea is simple: if visitors have more to do after 5 p.m., they're more likely to stay another night.

👷🏼♀️Building on a Decade of Momentum
Bentonville is entering one of the biggest periods of investment in its history, with projects including:
The new Walmart Home Office
The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine
New hotels, parks, and downtown improvements
City leaders believe those investments create an opportunity to elevate Bentonville from a regional attraction into a nationally recognized destination.
🏡Front Porch’s Take
Tourism can be a tricky conversation.
More visitors mean busier streets, higher demand for housing, and added pressure on infrastructure.
But they also bring new restaurants, entertainment, jobs, and tax revenue that help fund amenities residents enjoy.
What's notable about this master plan is that it focuses on attracting more tourists and it focuses on creating the kinds of places locals have been asking for, too.
More shopping, more nightlife, better transportation, and additional gathering spaces would benefit someone who lives in Bentonville just as much as someone visiting for the weekend.
As Northwest Arkansas continues to grow, Bentonville's challenge won't be convincing people to come: it will be making sure the city grows in a way that keeps its character while giving both residents and visitors more reasons to stay a little longer.
Take a long look at the master plan and look for projects that continue to elevate Bentonville as a tourism destination!
